Stefan Sagmeister  —  The Happy Show
Roman Sidoroff

How can we be happy both as humans and as designers? How can we avoid that our jobs turn into tedious routine? Stefan Sagmeister — a veritable graphic design guru — aims to explore these and other questions within his exhibition “The Happy Show” in Wien’s MAK museum for applied arts.

How can we be happy both as humans and as designers? How can we avoid that our jobs turn into tedious routine? Stefan Sagmeister — a veritable graphic design guru — aims to explore these and other questions within his exhibition “The Happy Show” in Wien’s MAK museum for applied arts. Roman Sidoroff from lab9.pro — himself a multidisciplinary designer — explored the show and returned with some vivid images to give us a taste of the presentation.

The expositions, stretching not only across exhibition rooms, but also over the hallways, staircases and even toilets of the fair involve the work of many scientists in the fields of psychology, anthropology, history and typography, providing a comprehensive look on the connections between these fields.

The artist attempts to raise his happiness and train his soul just like we can train our bodies, and in this exhibitions documents his evolution in thought and vision of the past 10 years through a mix of video, print, infographics, sculptures, and interactive installations.

The inspiring presentation is a culmination of the designer’s experiments with meditation, cognitive therapy and psychoactive substances over the course of a three-month period, and can be seen until March 28, 2016.
